Keep writing simple
Prevent clutter and unnecessary adverbs, verbs, and adjectives
Develop your own style by reducing it to its bare essentials. Watch for punctuation. Keep sentences short and to the point. Include detail where able.
Be deliberate in your use of words. Seek to improve your vocabulary.
Test for unity by asking yourself questions while you write. Ask: Is the paragraph has the appropriate level and style Is it consistent? What is the point im trying to get across?
Readers process writing in a linear sequence. Paragraphs should be supporting ideas to an overarching central idea (or chapter). Each sentence should explain the supporting idea. Paragraphs can be broken into 4 main sentences: Topic Evidence Concluding and Bridge the the next Idea
The ending occurs when all facts are presented and recapped.
Reviewing is for simplification, pruning, and to increase order. Be prepared to rewrite, as this is the essence of good writing.
Have writing read by peers.
